The Dyed4you Ministries team was birthing a silk called Dayenu. The theme being gratitude to God regardless of circumstance. Feeling like the oil needed to be specifically thanksgiving-related (rather than praise, though there’s obviously an element of that too), they contact Carol for her prayerful consideration only to discover God had already started downloading the formula, but Carol hadn’t known which oil it was going with so the team provided the other portion of the download.
The Hebrew word Dayenu means “it is more than enough.” At Passover there’s a traditional song where they list off different events and then declare Dayenu. The idea being even if only this one thing happened, it would be enough and God would be worthy of praise. So in real life: I woke up this morning healthy and whole – Dayenu. I had a roof over my head and food for my belly – Dayenu. In other words, even if all the things I’m praying for don’t come to pass, what He has already done is more than enough to be worthy of praise. This is a simple reminder to stay in a place of gratitude that isn’t dependent on circumstances, but rather of one simply being grateful to God for all He has already done, which is more than enough.
