Kent Henry, a prophetic worship and prayer leader, has a cry in his heart for the hurting and suffering. During a time when he was teaching and leading worship every week in the Prayer Room at our church, I would sit listening and praying; our worship time was so moving. I suddenly realized that Kent was expressing the heart of God to minister the Balm of Gilead to His children for healing of those who are sick, hurting and suffering in spirit, soul or body. As a result, I felt the Lord prompting me to create a Balm of Gilead oil to anoint those who are sick, hurting and suffering.
In biblical times, the Balm of Gilead was used as a remedy for many, many things. It was deemed as something of extreme value because of its healing properties. In order to harvest the balm, the tree must be “wounded” – a picture of the One (Jesus) wounded for our healing, spirit, soul and body. The Balm of Heaven is; God’s mercy, which He applies upon true repentance, and is a remedy for the ills of individuals or nations. Just think, He is our Balm of Gilead.
