The Lord was highlighting the fact that covenants are binding – not something to be taken lightly. He desired for this oil to be created for those who wanted to come into agreement with the fullness of that commitment.
At Sinai, God gave the law to His people on what later become Pentecost. Years later after Jesus confirmed the new covenant with His blood on the cross, His Spirit was sent on Pentecost so that we could actually keep it. No more blood sacrifices were to be made on our behalf. “For it was indeed fitting that we should have such a high priest, holy, innocent, unstained, separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens. 27He has no need, like those high priests, to offer sacrifices daily, first for his own sins and then for those of the people, since he did this once for all when he offered up himself.” Hebrews 7:26-27
